Welcome to the STrading Post blog!

Hopefully as the months and years go by, this blog will have become a successful diary of my transition from an employed minion (doing the typical 9 to 5 role) to a professional sports trader in control of my own time.

So, briefly, who am I?

Well, for the moment I will have to keep to a level of anonymity because of the aforementioned 9 to 5 job.

But to provide a little background, I am over 20 years into my “chosen” career path and currently working for a PLC company. Whilst having done my job well for a lot of years, I’ve always yearned to be in control of myself and my destiny, which ultimately I don’t believe to be the case within a PLC.

With a great wife and two kids growing up fast I have started to learn that the most important commodity in life is not money or possessions but time. Many a time I am wishing I had more time to do things with my friends and family, as well as getting to football matches, music gigs and the occasional few pints with the lads.

There is my motivator to make a change to my life. TIME.

Work Life Balance (WLB) in a salaried career job is often difficult despite the claims of companies that they support flexible working hours.

The money I earn allows me to live a good standard of life (far from extravagant) that I am more than happy with. But the WLB can certainly be improved, so this is the main motivator behind my challenge to “ditch the day job” (referred to as DTDJ from hereon).

Off we go with the DTDJ challenge….
